Knorren climbing area

on the Penken mountain

In order to reach the Knorren climbing area, you can first use the 3S Penkenbahn cable car from Mayrhofen, and then take the Kombibahn Penken cable car from the 3S Penkenbahn mountain station.

At the Kombibahn Penken mountain station, follow the gravel road towards Penkenjoch and turn right at the “6 SB Knorren” mountain station.

That’s where you’ll find the Knorren climbing area, which is ideally suited for beginners and pros alike. The climbing area is more like an Alpine climbing park.
Overall, the rocks are very solid, like dolomite. We do recommend wearing a helmet. The climbing area is very family-friendly and offers dedicated routes for children, as well as plenty of climbing hooks.

The Knorren climbing area is only a short 10-minute walk from the Granatalm mountain lodge.
